After almost twenty years as an After Dinner Speaker Barry has spoken to numerous organisations including Business Conferences, Ladies Lunches, Sportsman’s Dinners, Round Table, Rotary and Golf Days. A highlight was a speech delivered to the Oxford University Union Debating Society where he pitted his wits against Ian Hislop of Private Eye and actor/comedian Stephen Fry.
He doesn’t use bad language so his speech can be tailored to any event. The speech includes topical news, anecdotes of being a Fire Fighter, observational humour and a light hearted look at the word of entertainment.
He has spoken alongside many politicians including Enoch Powell, Stephen Norris and the Speaker of the House of Commons. Also Royalty including H.R.H. Princess Anne. (Who assured him his knighthood was in the post.)
Corporate clients have included Ford Motor Company, Pendragon, Vauxhall, Rothschilds (Good wine), McDonalds (Nice burger), McCains European, (Tasty chips), Dibb Lipton Alsop, Ernst & Young (Nice tax bill), The Scottish oil industry, B.T. Law Societies and Banking Institutes.
His largest audience was a thousand Europeans at the Dutch shipbrokers dinner in Rotterdam, which he repeated another three times. The smallest was thirteen for Microsoft.
Company dinners can be tailored to a product, sales drive or mock sales talks. Barry has given bogus lectures to companies like Manpower and Toshiba as under the guise of a spoof Professor.
He has also been employed as the wine waiter by various companies including Reebok, Vauxhall and Phillips. Guests are often amazed by his mischievous behaviour and audacity before he is unmasked and delivers his speech.
Barry has hosted a commercial radio show as well as appearing on Sky TV, Yorkshire TV and LWT.
